The secret that makes a child change

The secret that makes a child change, without saying a single word to him 🌱

Something about your child bothers you? Maybe you really do need to teach him. But when it triggers a strong reaction in you, it may be pointing to something inside yourself.

The Baal Shem Tov teaches that when I pay attention to myself and change something inside me, something amazing can happen: the child changes too, without a word being said.

Have you ever seen a child change when you changed?

Why is it hardest with the child who is most like us?

Why is it hardest with the child who is most like us? 🪞

Sometimes the child who pushes us the most is the one who shares our strengths, our weaknesses, and our sensitive spots.

When we realize our children are a mirror, a lot of the anger melts away, and we can focus on what they are really coming to teach us.

Which of your kids is most like you? 👇

"Rabbi, pray for me - I'm going to fail my driving test!"

One-minute of a talk with high school students about fear of failure, self-belief, and the power of the words we speak to ourselves:

Sometimes a student comes up to me before a driving test and says: "Rabbi, please pray that I pass today, because I'm definitely going to fail."

And I tell them: If you walk in telling yourself "I'm going to fail", that becomes your own prayer, and that is the exact message your brain hears. Prayer and faith do not go hand in hand with defeating yourself in advance. They begin with believing that God gave you the strength to succeed.

What we tell ourselves before a big test in life matters just as much as how hard we prepared.

The Flashlight and the Laser Beam

Have you ever thought about the difference between an ordinary flashlight and a laser beam?

A flashlight only reaches a few yards ahead, because its light scatters in every direction.

A laser beam, on the other hand, can reach vast distances for one simple reason: all of its light is focused on a single point.

The power of love in our hearts works the exact same way.

We live in a world where everything is open, accessible, and pulls our attention in a hundred directions at once.

When we choose to guard our hearts and channel the full energy of our love into one sacred place - our marriage - that love gains the intensity of a laser beam, shining bright and strong for decades to come.
